As a boxer, your hands are your most important tools and they must be looked after using hand wraps or inner gloves.
Statistics tell you that any type of boxing training is going to be physically demanding for your hands, but a lot of the damage can be avoided by protecting your hands with the best hand wraps or ‘inner-gloves’.
As someone who boxed for over 10 years, from age 10 to 20, I’d be the first person to tell you to wrap them hands. If you don’t, the continued damage and impact could lead to short-term injuries such as fractured bones, and long-term issues like brittle bones.
Boxing hand wraps are imperative for all boxers, from beginners to the elite level, so here’s a guide to the best wraps with reviews and a few videos of techniques on how to wear them.
5 Best Hand Wraps for Boxers: My Experience
Let’s get straight into it – here’s a list of some of the best hand wraps for boxing that you can buy online.
RDX Boxing Hand Wraps Elasticated (4.5 meter)

These RDX hand wraps (inner gloves) come as a pair and are 30% cotton and 70% nylon.
They’re what you’d call ‘standard’ hand wraps, where you’re required to wrap them around your hands yourself, using the techniques shown below.
They are thicker than your average boxing hand wraps and have been made with good quality materials, meaning that they give an added level of protection.
They use carbon material and are one of the most durable wraps you can buy, whether you’re a professional or amateur boxer or MMA athlete.
They come as a pair as you’d expect, and there’s crucially a thumb loop – which makes it a LOT easier to use.
The wraps are 4.5 metres each, giving you plenty of protection and more than enough to double-wrap certain areas of your hands, if you have any tender areas.
RDX specialise in combat sports, so they often include some small details that other retailers struggle to match. For example, these wraps are slightly elasticated thanks to the blend of materials, providing a much better and more comfortable feel than some others on the market.
With RDX, you’re sure to receive the best quality boxing and MMA products without doubt.
Adidas Hand Wraps for Boxing

If in doubt, go with Adidas. As one of the most reputable companies in the sports retail industry, you’re almost always safe with their products.
These wraps from Adidas are the standard type, where you are required to wrap using the techniques shown below.
Available in red, black, blue, pink and white, there’s a pair of these Adidas boxing wraps to suit everyone. They’re the best hand wraps for beginners, kids and even experienced adults.
Boxing wraps with thumb loops are important to look out for, like these, because they provide great stabilisation while you’re wrapping up and it makes the process a whole lot easier.
They’re the best boxing wraps for beginners for one reason – they’re a lot smaller than RDX hand wraps in terms of their length – being 2.55 metres rather than 4.5.
Is that a good or bad thing? Well, your boxing hand wraps length depends on your age, as well as your preference. But as a beginner, I’d recommend getting a size similar to these Adidas ones as you get a great level of protection but you don’t spend hours trying to get them on.
These are the best hand wraps for kids and beginners, so look no further than Adidas if you or our children want to give boxing a go!
RDX Hand Boxing Inner Mitts MMA Fist Protector

Tap the image above or the link to view RDX Boxing Inner Mitts on Amazon. (They’re nicer looking than they look in the picture, trust me!)
Make no mistake, these are not your run-of-the-mill hand wraps – they’re what most people would call inner-mitts – but they certainly do a very effective job of protecting a boxer’s hands.
They’re made of a stretchy, breathable carbon fibre material, providing maximum protection as well as flexibility.
To state the obvious, you wear them underneath your regular boxing gloves, just like you would with usual wraps.
These inner gloves are quicker to put on than regular hand wraps, but they may not provide as much protection as they aren’t massively padded and you can’t double-wrap as you would with standard wraps.
They are the most time-efficient boxing wraps, but may not provide as much protection as other options.
EMRAH PRO Training Boxing Gel Inner Gloves Hand Wraps

Expect a few “where did you get those from?!” if you rock up to the gym with these EMRAH PRO boxing inner-mitts on, because they’re really uniquely designed.
Practically, they’re similar to the RDX inner-mitts in terms of sliding them on quickly, but you’ll notice that one disadvantage is that they do not protect the thumb as RDX inner-gloves do.
They’re easy to wear, provide a good level of protection, and you can choose from a wide range of colours and designs.
The AMRAH PRO inner-gloves are probably the best hand wraps to wear under your gloves when doing light bag-work – on the floor-to-ceiling bag or speed bag.
Blitz Hand Wraps 120/180-Inch

These boxing hand wraps from Blitz are cheap, durable, and do everything you expect in standard wraps.
There’s no fancy tech or magic materials, they are basic hand wraps, but they are very long – over 4.5 metres – and provide protection for the whole of the hand, wrist, and knuckles.
Boxing hand wraps with loops are important as we mentioned, and these Blitz ones include an extra large loop for those with slightly larger paws.
They can be bought in an array of colours and are even available in Union Jack print.
If you enter a local boxing gym in the UK, you’re likely to see someone supporting a pair of these. Blitz is a well renowned company and, as long as you use them properly, your hands should stay as good as new.
They shouldn’t shrink if you want to stick them in the washing machine either!

Remember, wrapping your hands properly can help you keep your hands in good shape over the course of a round, fight, and a full camp.
Should boxing hand wraps be 3 metres, 4 metres or 5 metres?
How long your boxing hand wraps are depends on your preferences, but the standard length for adult males is around 3 to 4.5 metres.
The best boxing hand wraps for women or children will be 1.5 to 2.5 metres, depending on the size of their hands.
If in doubt, buy a longer pair and simply cut the middle and sew the right amount back together – that way, you reduce the size but do not lose the thumb loop or velcro strap.
Or, buy a pair of inner-gloves!
